Are there any parts of the story you would have written differently if you were the author of Hidden Talents? If yes, what would you change? If no, why would you leave things the same?

DeleteYou really want to know what cold read mean it means you know when you do a fluency test in reading you read it before if you get any words you get wrong you mark it you subtract by how many you read in the story in a minute by the amount of words you got wrong.

DeleteI think the book is good so far because it is vry thrilling like when you learn they have powers and when you learn what the secret on friday nights is. I also think the author was very descriptive when he was explaining the school for example he said the locker rooms smelled like the cheese section of the supermarket it gave me a good mental pictiure.

DeleteThe parts of the book i would change is that when Principal Davis changes Matrin's review to the afternoon when Martin had served a "special detention". And I would have changed that to martin gets his review every month to see if he improved or didn't.
ReplyDeleteThis would be much more fair but there are too many students and maybe Torchie, Lucky,Cheater, Flinch, Bloodbath, or Trash would pass and there would not be a story if one of them were absent.
DeleteWhen I was reading I saw Miss.Nomads poem I thought it was decent but I would change it to one of my poems if I were the author for example maybe the author could have used a poem she wrote when she was a child.

DeleteWhat I think so far is that... well Torchie,Cheater,and Flinch were totally wrong when then said Martin was crazy but Martin was right about them having Pyschic powers. But eventually then end up admiting that the really have powers.

I would change some parts of the story even though over all I would keep it the same . Some parts I would change are that I would include Bloodbath and Lip more. I definitly would have changed Mrs.Nomad's poem about a grain of sand and would have tried to find a different rhyme for simple instead of pimple.

Many people have attempted this but only I have succeeded. My studies on human nature yeild very suprising results.My subject/apprentice has shown me how to be a better person but has also very much told me that a closer look into his time tells me I could have possibly discoverd the abililty to read minds. Now don`t be offended by this Noah becuase I have bad habbits of electricuting various creatures, stabbing any given item from bread to trees ect.,and finally I have a very bad habbit of lighting random things on...er...fire.

I relate to a lot of the characters in the story because I am smart and can figure stuff out like Martin and Cheater, but I am always being accused of things I didn't do like Torchie and Trash. I also am pretty lucky like Lucky even though it isn't luck, just talent.

A boy named Torchie made sure that he promise not to tell their secret.By the way awesome book you just have to read it for yourself.......

This school purplexes me greatly. If I were a child [I am not a kid!] I would use various food items to attack Lester Bloodbath and find ways to survive with items such as :
-the reinforced pillow sheild
-the paper crossbow[as seen on TV]
-the candy supply suitcase
-the very flamible mac&cheese bomb

This is one of the awesome books that I read that I think needs a sequel. I just hate it when I read an awesome book, but there's no follow up.

3.I think that I realate most to Torchie because for some reason I have a habbit of starting fires.For example,once I was making toast and the bread sliped through the meatal bars and touched the part of the toaster oven and it started a small fire. Another time I was making my hot dog and I accidentally left it in the microwave too long.And well you get what happened.The last time I started a fire And the most recent,I was washing the dishes and we just got done eating birthday cake and I put the candles in the dish washer and when the dishes were done there was wax everywhere!!!! then for the next three days it smelt like burning candles.My dad kept telling me to stop playing with candles and to blow them out right now and then I had to tell him the whole story.Then he Asked me why would you put candles in the dish washer???!!!And thats why I do not do the dishes any more.now I do the landry:(

ReplyDelete2.Yes I would have written the conflict differently becauses the story does not have a huge conflict just a littler conflict. Also I would change the story so Martin's parents write to him more so he can communicate with him. The text only shows a partial unfinished note from his mom and a few notes from his sister. It would have been more interesting to see what they would have written to each other.
3. I can relate to Cheater the most because he is really smart just like me and I can answer questions just like he does that no one else can answer. I can relate to when his friends ask him alot of questions they don't know the answer to and he answers them. My friends and I do that sometimes too.
I agree about the conflict it really needs to be bigger it was kind of boring at some parts:)

DeleteI really like this story. I think it's kind of interesting. There is a lot of things I can relate to and when I can relate to something it makes it easier for me to comprehend or understand. For example, when Martin told his friends they have some type of super power, his friends didn't believe him and thought he was a little crazy, but I wouldn't of believed him either, although I wouldn't have gotten mad at him for saying something he thinks but if he would have kept going on with his idea and wouldn't stop talking about it then I can see why they would be a little mad. And there is a lot more I can relate to then that but its a little to much to put down.

Other than that I think this book is great to understand and it's really funny. I love it. I think I might buy this book when I'm done reading it here so I don't spoil the book here.
I think I am most like Torchie because I really like fires and they keep me warm plus it's really exciting to see things burn. And I think fires are pretty looking because of the red on the top orange in the middle and blue on the bottom. I am also like Torchie because I try to make friends with everyone and I can't stand it when someone doesn't like me

I think the book is also kind of funny because when Martin was talking to the gang about their talents, and Torchie kept on setting things on fire by accident and he would always say sorry over and over again for it. Also, I think the book is interesting because when Martin got detention and Principal Davis gave him that horrible punishment, I wondered what was going to happen next.

I think the book is very funny. When the letters from martons family come and they show them it is very funny. Also when they show the poems kids write and the information teachers write on the kids it is very funny.

As you can all see we Phillip has fairly good grades for the most part, but I came to speak about the fact that he starts fires. Many students seem to think he uses matches or a lighter, but all of his roommate and friends seem to deny the fact that he uses such items. Even though this dosen`t seem logical I suspect that he might have a psycic ability. I will observe the student and see if anything unusual occurs. If any results fall into my hands I will say what I personally think.

This is one very smart kid. Although he might get some low test scores he still quite intelligent. Something has recently bugged me about this kid. When I looked at his scores they seem to match the students around him. When I observed him taking a quiz obviously he wasn`t peeking. I suspect this child may actually be telepathic. If any further results fall into my hands I will make a note of it.
